8. Mount the towing vehicle with a towing bar to the shunting coupler of the towed vehicle,
after which this can be towed;
9. Operate switch vehicle lighting on the control panel to enable the base lighting and the low
beam ;
10. Operate switch hazard warning lights on the control panel to enable the hazard warning
lights:
- Check if all hazard warning lights are active;
11. Release the parking brake:
- Pull out the lever and move it forwards.
4.17.2. Towing with a malfunctioning diesel engine
When the diesel engine can no longer run, the same procedure can be followed as described in
§ 4.17.1. Towing with functioning diesel engine, service brake and steering system.
However, there are some additional problems.
The system is not building air pressure
1. The service brake is not functioning properly (see § 4.8.1. Service brake );
2. The parking brake cannot be released (see § 4.17.2.2. Releasing the parking brake );
3. The transfer case cannot be switched to its neutral position
(see § 4.17.3. Enabling transfer case to neutral ):
- If this does not work, then some drive shafts must be disassembled
(see § 4.17.3.1. Remove drive shafts on output shafts of the transfer case );
The oil pump from the diesel engine is not supplying oil pressure
1. The power-assisted steering is not (fully) functioning properly
(see § 4.17.3.2. Power-assisted steering ).
CAUTION!
Check if the parking brake is released, otherwise the braking system can be
heavily damaged.
