4.3. Using the AC adapter/battery charger
This blood-pressure monitor uses an AC adapter (output 7.5 V DC / 2.0A with
DIN plug). It is designed specifically for this instrument to be used as an AC/DC
adapter and as a battery charger.
Please use an approved Spengler battery pack and AC/DC adapter. The use of
an AC/DC adapter with the incorrect voltage or amperage will permanently
damage the device.
5. CARRYING OUT A MEASUREMENT
Notes to read before using this device:
• Only use clinically approved Spengler cuffs.
• Average Mode MAM: clinical studies demonstrate taking multiple bloodpressure
readings and calculating an average is more likely to determine your true blood
pressure. This unit allows you to switch the unit to a special Average Mode setting
( MAM ) that automatically takes multiple readings.
If you would like to take an Average Mode measurement, please slide the switch
to the right toward no. 3. A « MAM » symbol in the display indicates that the unit is
set to the Average Mode.
When the unit is set to Average Mode, 3 separate measurements will take place in
succession. There will be a 15 seconds resting time between each measurement.
A count-down indicates the remaining time and a beep will sound 5 seconds be-
fore the 2nd and 3rd readings will begin. If the single data of each cycle differ too
much from each other, a fourth measurement is performed before the result is
displayed. In rare cases the blood pressure is so unstable that even after four
measurements there is not enough data to give an accurate reading. In this case
«ERR 6» is shown and no result can be given.
If one of measurement causes an error message it is repeated.
