Cause
Remedy
Error message:
HF adjustment faulty.
Unfavorable starting
conditions.
Check the sample introduction
system; flush the system, and
restart the plasma.
Error message:
The plasma is
extinguished.
Analytical load too high.
Check whether the adjustable
parameters harmonize with the
selected method.
Error message:
Plasma does not ignite.
Plasma torch is
contaminated.
Coil geometry faulty.
Check the plasma torch; clean if
necessary.
Check the position and the
geometry of the coil, align if
necessary.
Plasma torch is melting.
Plasma torch is incorrectly
positioned inside the
induction coil.
Check whether the plasma torch
is positioned correctly.
Aerosol tube clogged.
Clean plasma torch
Leak in argon connection
to the plasma torch.
Check argon connections to
plasma torch for leaks.
Auxiliary gas flow set too
low.
Increase auxiliary gas flow.
Leak in nebulizer system.
Localize leak using soapy
solution and seal the leak.
Plasma cannot be
ignited.
No Tesla coil spark.
Check ignition cable connection
and insulation hose for correct fit
and replace as needed.
Plasma torch not correctly
centered within the load
coil.
Check the load coil setting.
Oxygen in sample
introduction system.
Purge the sample introduction
system with argon.
Wrong argon quality.
Argon quality of 4.6 or higher is
required (purity of 99.996 % or
higher).
Asymmetrical plasma.
Argon flushing from the
SPI too high.
Reduce the flow rate.
Plasma chamber
extraction set too high.
Reduce the extraction capacity.
