1. Home position
The thermal head rises to the highest position and lies in
the position where it does not interfere with the insertion of
a ribbon cartridge. The load roller rises and ejects paper in
contact with an eject roller. The supply ribbon is locked
and not pulled out.
2. Paper feed position
Paper is fed to the separation block when the load roller
lowers, comes in contact with paper, and rotates. In the
separation block, paper is separated so that it is not fed one
upon another and then sent between the grip roller and
pinch roller. After that, the paper feed roller and paper is
separated in certain timing. The supply ribbon is locked
and not pulled out.
3. Carry position
The pinch roller lowers and grips paper so as to perform
paper sensing and return the paper at high speed. The
thermal head is located between the home position and
print position, performing ribbon sensing. In this case, the
supply ribbon is in the free state so that a ribbon can be
pulled out at high speed.
The paper feed and eject rollers are stopped in the
intermediate position and cannot carry any paper.
4. Print position
Like the carry position, the pinch roller grips paper and
lowers the head to the lowest position for printing. In this
case, fixed torque is applied to the take-up and supply
ribbons. Disturbance (load fluctuation) must not occur in
paper.
