Setting Up the System
Precautions
Safety precautions
Power supply
• Operate the unit with a power source as specified in
“Specifications” (page 47).
• Do not drop or place heavy objects on the power
cord. If the power cord is damaged, turn off the
power immediately. It is dangerous to use the unit
with a damaged power cord.
• Disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet by
grasping the plug, not by pulling the cord.
Keep foreign objects out of the cabinet
Dropping flammable or metal objects into the cabinet,
or spilling liquids onto the cabinet can lead to
accidents.
In case of malfunctions
If you notice any unusual sound, smell or smoke, turn
off the power immediately, disconnect the power
supply and contact your Sony dealer.
Infrared
The infrared emitted by the SX-9131A/SX-9134
Infrared Radiator is set to a level that is safe for
human beings. We recommend, however, that you do
not stare at the radiator for a long time.
Cleaning
Clean the cabinet and panels by wiping with a soft,
dry cloth. For severe stains, moisten the cloth with a
small amount of neutral solvent, and finish by wiping
with a dry cloth. Do not use alcohol, benzine, thinner
or volatile liquids, as these may discolor or damage
the cabinet surface.
Lighting
Use the following lighting in halls where the system
is used.
• Incandescent electric light: Incandescent electric
light such as halogen bulbs or krypton bulbs.
• Glow-started low-efficiency power factor
fluorescent bulbs.
Note
Do not use the following lights because they cause the
infrared noise. When video projectors or slide
projectors are used in the hall, strong noise occurs
whenever the following lights are turned on.
• Inverter type fluorescent bulbs.
• High efficiency type (switching method) fluorescent
bulbs
Cooling fan (only for SX-9134)
The unit is provided with the cooling fan that prevents
malfunction due to overheating. If the cooling fan
stops due to the expiny of its life, the unit
automatically stops transmitting the infrared to
radiators and both the POWER indicator and CHECK
indicator start blinking. If they start blinking, it is
recommended to replace with the new cooling fan.
For details of replacing the cooling fan, contact your
nearest Sony dealer.
