Problem

“RECOVERY MODE”
appears on the display and all
the buttons are disabled.
“SETUP DATA ERROR”
appears on the display.
You want to use multiple
Components (VCR+DVD,
TV+VCR, DVD+RCVR
(receiver), etc) with XPRESS
function.
You want to set a DVD
player for both XPRESS
DVD and XPRESS CD.

The PC cannot recognize the
USB connection.

Timer function does not work
at the preset time.

ALL OFF TIMER does not
work.

Solution

A malfunction has occurred in the Remote Commander’s firmware. Update
the Remote Commander’s firmware using “RM-AX5000 Custom Setup
Tool.”
The Custom Setup data is not transferred correctly. Re-transfer the Custom
Setup data using “RM-AX5000 Custom Setup Tool.”
When you have a multiple Components (such as a DVD/VCR combo),
select only one of either Component type. For example, in the case of a
DVD/VCR combo, select “DVD” or “VCR.” If you select both
Components, the XPRESS function may not work properly.

You can set multiple XPRESS functions for one Component. For example,
when you watch a DVD, you can set the sound to output from the TV. Or,
when you listen to a CD, you can set the sound to output from the RCVR
(Receiver/Amplifier.)
• Install “RM-AX5000 Custom Setup Tool” to your PC before connecting

the Remote Commander. The USB driver will install automatically.

• If the connection goes through a HUB, some PCs will not recognize it. In

this case, connect it directly to the USB port of your PC.

• Disconnect the USB cable from your PC once, then reconnect the USB

cable to your PC after about 5 seconds.

• Disconnect the USB cable and restart your PC. Then reconnect the USB

cable.

• Does the low battery icon light up?

If the battery is depleted, the Remote Commander automatically exits the
USB mode. Perform setting by charging the battery or connecting the
AC Power Adaptor to the Remote Commander.

• Timer Macro does not work during the setting mode. An alert appears in

the display when the Timer Macro execution time approaches. If the
alert appears, stop setting and exit the setting mode.

• The Component could not receive the signal from the Commander

successfully. When using the timer, check the following;
– Check that the timer macro program functions correctly by clicking

the TEST button in the “RM-AX5000 Custom Setup Tool,” after
programming the timer

– Check the location of the Commander.

• The status of each Component will not allow operation. (For example,

you program the power-on setting, assuming that power of the
Component is off when the timer turns on. However, if power of the
Component is on when the Component receives the timer signal from the
Commander, the Component will turn off.)

• Isn’t the Timer function execution set to off?

Set it to on (page 19.)

ALL OFF TIMER does not work during the setting mode. Exit the setting
mode when the ALL OFF TIMER setting time approaches.
