2.4 Commissioning
Before connecting the equipment to the
power supply, fill and flush the system
thoroughly by opening the DHW valve.
Turn the temperature selector
1
fully
clockwise.
Monitor the first heat-up. Observe the
control thermostat switching the system
OFF.
Check the safety assembly (18) function.
Turn the temperature selector
1
to the
required DHW temperature.
The high limit safety cut-out (28)
can respond at temperatures below
–15 ºC (e.g. transport/storage). Press the
reset button.
Due to solar influence (via the solar
collectors), the cylinder temperature may be
higher than that selected at the control unit.
The temperature selected at the controller
only limits the heating by the electric heating
element.
2.5 Integral solar control unit
The solar control unit, which is integrated
into the cylinder, is a temperature differential
controller. The temperature differential
established by two sensors (collector/cylinder
temperature) is captured and compared
with a set temperature differential
!
T
= 2 to
16 K adjustable). The control unit starts the
circulation pump, if the actual value exceeds
the selected set value.
Functions: Cylinder maximum temperature
limit, manual mode, frost protection, minimum
temperature limit

DIP switch 1: Manual mode
12
For commissioning and maintenance work, the
relay can be permanently switched ON via
manual mode. The ON indicator flashes green
when manual mode is enabled (ON). Manual
mode is disabled at the factory (DIP switch at
OFF); the controller is in automatic mode.
DIP switch 2: Maximum temperature limit
12
This enables the temperature limit as
maximum temperature limit. The temperature
is selected at the potentiometer (30) as limit
value for the cylinder sensor connected to
terminals S2. The relay changes over when
the selected maximum temperature has been
exceeded, and further heating of the cylinder
is prevented. The ON indicator flashes red
when the maximum temperature has been
exceeded. At the factory, the maximum
temperature limit is enabled (ON); 60 °C is
selected as temperature limit. Setting range
20...90 °C.

DIP switch 3: Frost protection
12
Frost protection responds to the collector
sensor temperature (S1). Heated water from
the cylinder is pumped into the collector, as
soon as that sensor captures a temperature
below +4 °C to prevent collector damage.
During that phase, the ON indicator flashes
green. The pump is switched OFF again when
+5 °C is reached at S1. The frost protection is
disabled at the factory (OFF).
On account of the limited “heat
reserve” inside the cylinder, this
function is only suitable in regions where
temperatures below zero can be expected
on only a few days of the year.
DIP switch 4:
12
When combining this product with a
solar collector, switch 4 cannot be usefully
employed and should therefore stay in the
OFF position.
Potentiometer
11
The lower potentiometer (29) is used to
select the maximum cylinder temperature.
The circulation pump is switched OFF as soon
as that temperature has been reached. The
upper potentiometer (30) is used to select
the start temperature differential.
