FIG. 24
SAW OPERATIONS
2. Grip the miter-lock knob, and then use your
thumb to push down on the miter-detent
button: push down the miter-detent button
until the table is free from the miter scale.
3. While gripping the miter-lock knob and
miter-detent button, rotate the saw table.
Stop the table rotation at the desired angle,
as indicated by the miter-scale pointer.
4. Release the miter-detent button at a detent
in the miter scale or at an angle between
detents. If it is close to a miter detent, use
the miter-detent override feature.
5. Tighten the miter-lock knob before cutting.
NOTICE: It is recommended to tighten the
miter-lock knob before all cuts. Always tighten
the miter-lock knob before cutting at any
angle between detents or when the miter-
detent override system is in use.
Miter-Detent Override
The miter-detent override feature allows the
miter-detent action to be locked out to allow
for micro adjustments at any miter angle.
When the desired miter angle is too close to
a standard miter angle that has a detent slot,
this feature prevents the wedge on the miter-
detent lever from slipping into the detent slot
on the miter-detent plate.
1. Push the miter-detent button down and
then forward.
2. Without letting the miter-detent button
move backwards, allow the miter-detent
button to rise until it is captured by the
table.
3. Rotate the table to any position on the
miter scale.
4. Lock the miter-lock knob to retain the miter
position.
Miter Cut
•
A miter cut is made at 0° bevel and any
miter angle in the range from 50° left to 60°
right.
•
Positive detents have been provided for fast
and accurate mitering at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, and
45° left and right, 50° left, and 60° right.
•
There is also a crown-molding detent at
31.6° (see Cutting Crown Molding for more
information).
•
For maximum support, the sliding fence
must always be as close to the blade as
possible without interfering with head
assembly (see ADJUSTMENT, Sliding
Fence, if necessary).
1. Loosen the miter-lock knob
1. Press down
on the miter-lock detent lever and move
the saw to the desired angle, using either
of the detents or the miter scale
2. Tighten
the miter-lock knob.
2. Extend the table extension on the side of
the table where hand support is needed to
properly support the workpiece. (See Table
Extension.)
3. Properly position the workpiece 3. Make
sure workpiece is clamped
4 firmly against
the table and the fence.
WARNING
Use a clamping position
that does not interfere
with operation. Before switching on the saw,
lower the head assembly to make sure that
the clamp clears the guard and the head
assembly
4. Activate the switch. Lower the head
assembly and make your cut.
