1. Set screw
2. Lock nut
3. Steel ring
7. Keep the set screws from turn-
ing and tighten the lock nuts to-
wards the adjuster hub to 5 N•m
(44 lbf•
in
).
8. Install belt guard, refer to
DRIVE
BELT GUARD INSTALLATION
.
9. Close side panel, refer to
BODY
.
NOTE:
This setting is correct as a pre-
liminary adjustment for most models
and belt types. In some cases, when
starting the engine, the vehicle could
creep, indicating that the belt is too
tight.
If the vehicle creeps, lower the belt,
install the belt guard and side panel,
then start engine. Repeat until creep-
ing stops.
Spare Drive Belt Storage
A spare drive belt can be stored on RH
side of engine compartment.
NOTE:
Spare drive belt is not supplied
with the snowmobile.
Remove hood, refer to

Drive Pulley
Drive Pulley Adjustment
WARNING
Remove the tether cord cap (DESS
key) before performing any adjust-
ment. Vehicle must be parked in a
safe place, away from the trail.
The drive pulley is factory calibrated to
transmit maximum engine power at a
predefined RPM. Factors such as am-
bient temperature, altitude or surface
condition may vary this critical engine
RPM thus affecting snowmobile effi-
ciency.
This adjustable drive pulley allows set-
ting maximum engine RPM to maintain
maximum power.
Calibration screws should be adjusted
so that actual maximum engine RPM
matches the maximum horsepower
RPM.
