The heading sensor is t he
m ost im port ant part of t he aut opilot syst em and great
care should be t aken when deciding t he m ount ing
locat ion. As t he heading is display ed on t he cont rol unit ,
t he heading sensor can be m ount ed at a rem ot e locat ion.
The com pass can be m ount ed on deck or bulkhead,
at hwart ship or along ship. Som e of t he product s
connect ed t o t he Sim Net net work m ay have a heading
offset feat ure. This w ill com pensat e for t he m echanical
offset s t hat m ay be a result of t he select ed locat ion and
orient at ion of t he com pass.
