Secondary Callback – Assigned to a Secondary Drug in the MDL
Secondary Callback is a feature that causes the pump to drop to the KVO Rate (1 mL/hr or the cur-
rent infusion rate, whichever is less) at the completion of the Secondary Infusion and sound an audio
alarm to call the clinician back.
If Secondary Callback is enabled* (per drug in the MDL) a dialog box shall be displayed at the com-
pletion of programming a Secondary infusion that asks if the clinician would like to be called back at
the completion of the Secondary infusion. .
If YES is pressed, a “callback” icon will be displayed on the RUN screen during the second-
ary infusion to indicate that the callback feature is active.
If NO is pressed, the “callback” icon will not be displayed and the pump will automatically
transition to the Primary infusion upon completion of the Secondary infusion.
*Version 6.2.2 MDL allows configuration as ON or OFF:
■
If ON, the clinician will be presented with the Callback dialog upon completion of pro-
gramming the Secondary infusion.
■
If OFF, the pump will automatically transition to the Primary infusion upon completion
of the Secondary infusion.
■
Amount/Time infusions: Secondary callback operates in the same manner as for contin-
uous secondary infusions with the addition of a “Line Flush” dialog box at secondary
infusion complete.
*Version 6.5.4 MDL allows configuration as NEVER, OPTIONAL, or REQUIRED:
■
If REQUIRED, the pump will not offer the clinician the Callback dialog and the pump
will drop to the KVO Rate at the completion of the Secondary infusion and sound an
audio alarm to call the clinician back.
■
If OPTIONAL, the clinician will be presented with the Callback dialog upon comple-
tion of programming the Secondary infusion.
■
If NEVER, the pump will automatically transition to the Primary infusion upon comple-
tion of the Secondary infusion.
Pump stops (KVO rate) and a callback alarm occurs when the secondary infusion completes.
