The task of the CC–S
0
is to perform an adaptation of the available fibre optic active interface
in the protection device (DTE) to the physical specification of the respective interface of the
communication network (DCE). The adaptation occurs synchronously and completely bit-
transparent, i.e. direct forwarding of the information without adding or filtering out informati-
on. Figure 21 shows the hardware structure.
The interface type (optionally X.21 or G703.1) and the required transmission speed are set
manually via jumpers.
Another jumper serves to switch over to Test mode for putting into operation and for service
purposes.
