Using "HyperTerminal" via the Serial Interface of a PC
This terminal program is supplied as a standard feature of the operating system
WINDOWS
®
XP.
Start HyperTerminal under:
"Start

Programs

Accessories
Æ
Communications

HyperTerminal"
Enter a name for the new
connection, e.g. 9600 8N1.
The connection can be saved
on exiting.
Assign a PC interface to the
connection,
e.g. COM1.
For a
new Serial Modem
, select the
settings
9600
bits per second,
8
data bits,
none
for parity,
1
stop bit and
none
for flow control
Continue with
OK
Note:
The Serial Modem can only be set via the serial interface in the currently set
baudrate and data format. If these settings were changed, the connection settings in
HyperTerminal would have to be adjusted.
It is advisable to note down these settings to avoid any problems accessing the
modem later.
