Machine does not
start or a breaker
trips.
1. Incorrect power supply voltage or circuit
size.
2. Power supply circuit breaker tripped or
fuse blown.
3. Motor wires connected incorrectly.
4. Wiring open/has high resistance.
5. ON/OFF switch at fault.
6. Run capacitor at fault.
7. Motor at fault.
1. Ensure correct power supply voltage and circuit
size (
Page 9).
2. Ensure circuit is sized correctly and free of shorts.
Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
3. Correct motor wiring connections (
Page 28).
4. Check/fix broken, disconnected, or corroded wires.
5. Replace switch.
6. Test/replace.
7. Test/repair/replace.
Machine stalls or is
underpowered.
1. Machine undersized for task.
2. Workpiece material not suitable for
machine.
3. Sanding with too much pressure.
4. Dust collection ducting problem, causing
dust buildup.
5. Dust collector undersized, causing dust
buildup.
6. Motor wired incorrectly.
7. Motor overheated.
8. Pulley/sprocket slipping on shaft.
1. Clean/replace sandpaper; reduce feed rate/sand-
ing depth.
2. Only sand wood—ensure moisture is below 20%.
3. Reduce pressure of workpiece against sanding belt/
disc.
4. Clear blockages, seal leaks, use smooth wall duct,
eliminate bends, close other branches.
5. Move closer to machine/redesign ducting layout/
upgrade dust collector.
6. Wire motor correctly (
Page 27).
7. Clean motor, let cool, and reduce workload.
8. Replace loose pulley/shaft.
Machine has vibra-
tion or noisy
operation.
1. Machine incorrectly mounted to workbench
or floor.
2. Sanding belt not tracking correctly.
3. Weak or broken tension spring.
4. Broken/defective sanding belt.
5. Sanding disc rubbing or not centered
properly.
6. Motor or component loose.
7. Motor bearings at fault.
1. Adjust feet, shim, or tighten mounting hardware.
2. Adjust sanding belt tracking (
Page 19).
3. Replace spring (
Page 29)
4. Replace sanding belt (
Page 21).
5. Center sanding disc; adjust work table to prevent
disc contact (
Page 17).
6. Inspect/replace damaged bolts/nuts, and retighten
with thread locking fluid.
7. Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose
shaft requires bearing replacement.
