OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION:
The suction hole must
be open and free of any
obstructions at all times. Otherwise, the
motor will overheat and could become
damaged.
If uncertain as to how to remove your
battery pack, we suggest you take your
vacuum to a reputable small appliance
service technician to have this service
performed.
1. Remove the extension tubes from
the extension tube connector in the
back of the unit.
2. Using a #2 Philips head screw
driver, remove the single screw
located in the recess at the rear of
the unit. Push the battery
compartment cover off.
NEVER
open battery compartment except
to change the battery. (Fig. 8)
CAUTION
:
NEVER
use the unit
without the battery compartment
cover in place.
WARNING: NEVER
use ordinary
batteries for replacement, as these
may leak and damage your vacuum
cleaner. Use only battery pack XB8287
for replacement.

supplied with the unit.
• Do not attempt to remove the battery
pack from the unit to charge it.
• Never attempt to throw the battery
pack or unit into a fire or incinerate it.
• Do not attempt to remove or damage
the battery casing.
• Battery must be recycled or
disposed of properly at the end of it's
service life.
Follow these steps when battery removal
is required.
This hand vacuum is equipped with Ni-Cd
batteries and you need to dispose of
them properly. When the batteries are no
longer good for use, they must be
removed from the hand vacuum for
disposal. Do not remove the batteries for
any reason other than disposal of them.
Call your nearest recycling center for
information on the recycling and
disposal of Ni-Cd batteries.
3. Set aside battery compartment
cover and screw.
4. Carefully pull out the battery pack.
5. After removing the battery pack
from the unit, hold each half of the
electrical connector in your hands
and pull apart. Place the old battery
pack on the side.
6. To insert the new battery pack, first
connect the electrical connectors
on the battery pack to the electrical
connectors in the unit. Make sure
that you connect the red wire to the
red wire and the black wire to the
black wire.
7. When the wires are connected,
push the battery pack back into the
battery compartment and insert the
battery compartment cover.
8. Replace the battery compartment
cover screw.

It is recommended that the dust
cup filter be replaced every three (3)
months to ensure peak performance of
the unit.
