2. Certifications
SMART S-IS series gas detectors meet the essential health
and safety requirements in accordance with the ATEX Di-
rective 2014/34/EU and the international IECEx scheme.
The detectors have been designed for use in potentially
explosive atmospheres due to the presence of gas, va-
pour, mist and dust, classified as zone 1 or zone 2 (or zone
21 or 22 when the dust cover is applied) according to EN /
IEC 60079-10-1 and EN /IEC 60079-10-2 classification.
In particular, they have “Ex db” explosion proof protec-
tion mode and “Ex [ib] ib” protection modes construct-
ed according to the CESI 16 ATEX 046 X and IECEx CES
17.0010X certificates in compliance with the standards
EN /IEC 60079-0, EN /IEC 60079-1, EN /IEC 60079-11 and
EN /IEC 60079-31 (if the dust adapter is used).
