6. Testing and use
6.1 Power on
When the detector is powered on the output current is nearly 2.0 mA. After 2 minutes, when
the warm-up time has finished, the output current is 4.0 mA.
Once the warm-up phase is over, the detector can work correctly, although the optimal per-
formances will be achieved after two hours.
Should the detector be provided with display, please refer to the additional technical man-
ual of the display board.
6.2 Testing
Detectors are factory calibrated for the specific gas required by the customers. Future ad-
justment of the pre-set calibration can be carried out by employing the calibration keypad
or display if available.
It’s strictly forbidden open and close the equipment when it’s installed in hazardous area and
it’s powered-on. This operation can be conducted in safe zone and without power source.
After 10 minutes from power source interruption, the equipment can be opened.
It’s strictly recommended the use of personal protective equipment during operations in-
side the enclosure.
Testing / initial checking and calibration should be carried out by using a gas mixture in the
appropriate range, along with our calibration kit.
In order to execute this operation, the user has to ask for the proper test gas bottle and
connect to this the valve with flow meter. Connect a pipe with adequate diameter, which
connects to the calibration adapter for the gas detector. The calibration of the detector is
made by hand-held calibration keypad or detector display. See paragraph 10 for more de-
tails about the accessories for calibration.
Please consult the specific instruction manuals (display, keypad and field calibration kit) for
further information on use.
6.3 Use
The detector works autonomously and automatically. Once adequately connected, no fur-
ther operations are required.
The flashing red LED on the motherboard indicates the detector’s working condition(see
Figure 1).
