Installing the Windows 2000 Professional USB driver
a) When you first attach the USB hard drive to your
computer, the “Found New Hardware Wizard” starts
automatically. Click the Next button to continue.
Note. During the installation process, Windows may
identify your USB hard drive as a
Freecom USB-
ATAPI Controller
, a
Freecom Cable USB
device,
or some similar name. This is normal, and
indicates that your computer has detected the
USB controller in the drive.
b) When you see the screen titled, “Install Hardware
Device Drivers,” select the option labeled, Search
for a suitable driver for my device (recommended),
as shown in Figure 6. Click on the Next button.
c) When you see the wizard screen titled, “Locate
Driver Files,” insert the USB Hard Drive Resource
CD in your CD-ROM. Check the box to instruct the
wizard to search for new drivers on your CD-ROM
drive, as shown in Figure 7. Then click on the Next
button.
