Helm Seat Base and Tackle Rigging Station
The helm seat pedestal is mounted on a fiberglass seat base
and tackle rigging station. There is a cockpit light and the
inlet plug for the optional battery charger in the base below
the helm seat.
The tackle rigging station is behind the helm seat. It is
equipped with a Corian counter top and a sink that drains
overboard by a thru-hull fitting in the hull side. The sink can
be supplied either fresh or sea water by a pressure pump lo-
cated inside the tackle locker. A valve on the forward side of
the tackle station is used to select either fresh or sea water. A
freshwater tank inside the tackle station is filled by a pop up
style deck fitting located forward of the tackle station near
the helm seat. Refer to the Fresh Water System chapter for
more information on the fresh water system.
There is a tackle locker and storage compartment on the rear
of the tackle rigging station. The tackle locker has a door and
four removable trays. The tackle locker and storage compart-
ment can be removed to service the components mounted in-
side the tackle station.
Helm
The helm and molded in electronics are located on an open-
ing helm station. The engine gauges and compass are located
forward of the electronics and opening helm. The throttle
and shift control is on the starboard side of the cockpit next to
the helm. There is also a lockable storage compartment, drink
holder and chart locker to the starboard side of the helm. The
drink holder drains to the cockpit sole.
The helm station is hinged at the bottom and opens to provide
access to service the helm equipment or to install electronics.
Two straps hold the helm in the open position and prevent it
from opening too far. An extra fuse holder and ground buss
are provided make it easier to add 12-volt accessories and
electronics.
To open the helm station, make sure the engine is not running
and slide the helm seat back as far as it will go. Remove the
safety pin on the cam lock on the top of the helm. Hold the
helm in the closed position while releasing the cam lock lever
then carefully lower the helm to the full open position.
Note:
The helm is heavy and could open unexpectedly
when the last cam lock is released. This could
break the retainer straps or damage the helm.
Make sure you hold the helm closed while releas-
ing the lock.
Close the helm by pushing it to the closed position. Secure
the cam lock and insert the safety pin. Always make sure the
