e) The outside diameter and the thickness of the
insertion tool must correspond to the dimen-
sions of the power tool.
Incorrectly measured
insertion tools cannot be adequately shielded or
controlled.
f) Threaded mounting of insertion tools must
match the grinder spindle thread. For inser-
tion tools mounted by flanges, the arbour
hole of the insertion tool must fit the locating
diameter of the flange.
Insertion tools, which do
not fit exactly on the grinding spindle of the power
tool, rotate unevenly, vibrate violently and may re
-
sult in loss of control.
g) Do not use a damaged insertion tool. Before
each use, inspect the insertion tool such as
abrasive wheels for chips and cracks, back-
ing pad for cracks, tear or excess wear, wire
brush for loose or cracked wires. If power tool
or insertion tool is dropped, inspect for dam-
age or install an undamaged insertion tool.
After inspecting and installing the tool, posi-
tion yourself and bystanders away from the
plane of the rotating insertion tool and run the
power tool at maximum speed for one minute.
Damaged insertion tools usually break during this
test time.
h) Wear personal protective equipment. Depend-
ing on application, use full face protection,
eye protection or safety goggles. As appro-
priate, wear dust mask, hearing protection,
protective gloves and/or workshop apron ca-
pable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece
fragments.
The eye protection must be capable
of stopping flying debris generated by various op
-
erations. The dust mask or respirator must be ca-
pable of filtrating particles generated by your oper
-
ation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise
may cause hearing loss.
i) Keep bystanders a safe distance away from
your work area. Anyone entering the work area
must wear personal protective equipment.
Fragments of the workpiece or of broken insertion
tools may fly away and cause injury even beyond
the immediate work area.
j) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping
surfaces only, when performing an operation
where the cutting tool may contact hidden
wiring.
Contact with a “live” wire will also make
exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and
could give the operator an electric shock.
k) Position the cord clear of the rotating inser-
tion tool.
If you lose control, the cord may be cut
or snagged and your hand or arm may be pulled
into the rotating insertion tool.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of chil-
dren and do not allow persons unfamiliar with
the power tool or these instructions to oper-
ate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in
the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check
for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition
that may affect the power tool’s operation. If
damaged, have the power tool repaired before
use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly main
-
tained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools clean and sharp.
Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits
etc. in accordance with these instructions,
taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be performed.
Use of the power
tool for operations different from those intended
could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,
clean and free from oil and grease.
Slippery
handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for
safe handling and control of the power tool in un-
expected situations.
5) Service
a)
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical replace-
ment parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
Safety warnings common for grinding, sanding,
wire brushing, or abrasive cutting-off operations:
a) This power tool is intended to function as a
grinder or cut-off tool. Read all safety warn-
ings, instructions, illustrations and data pro-
vided with this power tool.
If you do not observe
the following instructions, an electric shock, fire
and/or serious injuries may occur.
b) Operations such as sanding, wire brushing
polishing or hole cutting are not recommend-
ed to be performed with this power tool.
Oper-
ations for which the power tool was not designed
may create a hazard and cause personal injury.
c) Do not use insertion tools which are not spe-
cifically designed and recommended by the
tool manufacturer.
Just because the accessory
can be attached to your power tool, it does not
assure safe operation.
d) The permitted speed of the insertion tool
must be at least equal to the maximum speed
indicated on the power tool.
An insertion tool
which rotates faster than permitted may shatter
and fly off.
