6 OPERATION
CAUTION!
Damage!
Electronic devices such as computers or control units can be damaged if
they are located near the strong magnets.
■
Position devices outside of the exposure zone.
DANGER!
Hazard from ejected objects!
Incorrect operation can cause objects to be ejected, causing serious injuries
and even death.
■
The magnetic chuck must always be securely attached to the work surface
of the machine tool. Check after assembly!
■
The pole plate and the workpiece must be clean to allow for maximum
magnetic adhesion. Air gaps reduce magnetic adhesion! Clean the pole
plate and workpiece before positioning!
■
If the workpieces have a high non-magnetic material content, the adhesion
of the workpiece on the precision magnetic chuck is reduced, e.g. in case
of high levels of nickel or cast iron. The holding force may have to be
calculated.
■
The magnetic chuck must not be heated over 80 °C. Above this
temperature, magnetising of the magnetic chuck is eliminated.
DANGER!
Risk of crushing!
There is risk of crushing when placing magnetic workpieces on the active
magnet.
■
Do not place and position workpieces when the magnet is switched on.
■
The use of non-magnetic tools can exclude the risk of crushing or similar
injuries.
■
Wear personal protective equipment.
DANGER!
Risk of crushing!
If the magnet is used vertically, this creates a risk of crushing from falling
workpieces.
■
Secure workpieces against falling during chucking and releasing.
Operating conditions
■
Never use a poorly functioning or damaged magnetic chuck!
■
Never leave the magnet switched on for an extended period before use without a workpiece!
■
The pole plate of the magnet must always be kept clean and level!
■
For heavy roughing work, we recommend absorbing the displacement forces with fixed stops!
■
Check that the forces are sufficient when working with reduced holding force!
■
The maximum workpiece temperature must not exceed 80 °C!
■
Always use appropriate shielding during machining, so that any ejected swarf does not pose a risk
for the operator!
■
Never chuck a workpiece with a large projection or height beyond the pole plate
(max. height approx. 1 x workpiece width)!
■
If possible, do not chuck any workpieces with irregular contact surfaces!
