2 SAFETY
2. SAFETY
NOTE!
All persons involved in operation, maintenance and servicing of the de-
magnetiser must be appropriately qualified and observe the operating
instructions in all details. The operating instructions comprise all information
required for safe and optimum use of the devices. This concerns not only the
functional reliability of the demagnetiser, but also your personal safety.
Do not remove any warning symbols and instructions from the demagnetiser!
DANGER!
Danger – strong magnetic field!
The exposure zone of the magnetic field poses a risk of injury and death
for persons with pacemakers, electronic- medical device implants, active
implants or ferromagnetic foreign bodies.
■
Minimum distance 2 m!
■
Whether persons with pacemakers, active implants or ferromagnetic for-
eign bodies can work on the devices has to be decided in each individu-
al case and upon consultation with a physician. Additional measurements
may have to be carried out. Persons with a pacemaker must not be in the
vicinity of the magnetic field. No damaging effects on the healthy human
organism are currently known.
■
In any case, the hazard zone has to be limited in such a way that the
basic limit of 0.5 mT is not reached.
■
Distances and limits must be complied with. See section 3.4.
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock!
The alternating magnetic field is generated with alternating voltage.
Demagnetisers work with high voltages and currents. An electric shock can
result in death or serious injuries.
■
Ensure to protect the device, rubber cable and connector against damage.
■
To exclude malfunctions and hazards for the operator, it is not permitted
to open the hand-held demagnetiser.
DANGER!
Risk of crushing!
The magnetic field causes attractive forces to act on ferromagnetic parts
(Fe parts). It therefore has to be expected that Fe parts carried by persons
within 200 mm of the magnet can be attracted.
■
The use of non-magnetic tools can exclude the risk of crushing or similar
injuries.
■
Do not carry any Fe parts or keep your distance.
