Setting up a WLAN in Windows 2000/ME/98
Windows 2000/ME/98 do not provide WLAN setting menus. Use program provided by
the manufacturer to set up a WLAN.
Checking Windows Version
Here are two ways to check the version(e.g., Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98)
of the Windows OS running on your computer.
- Clicking [Start] will open a menu tab. You can verify the version from the Windows
information displayed on the left section of the menu tab.
- Right- click [My Computer] on your desktop and select [Properties] to check the
system information.
Using WLAN Card Program
A WLAN card or a WLAN adapter is provided with an extra program for WLAN setup. To
set up a WLAN, refer to the user guide of the program. Select the same SSID set in ‘5.
Register WLAN Phone’(Page 6).
Using WLAN Connection Service of Windows XP
1.
Click [Start] to select
[Control Panel]
.

Double-click
[Network Connection]
in Control Panel.

If the Control Panel does not have [Network Connection], select
[Switch to Classic View] at the upper left corner of the Control Panel.

If
[
Wireless Network Connection
]
is set to [Disabled], right-click
[
Wireless Network
Connection
]
and select [Enabled].
•
Even if a message, ‘A wireless connection is not available’ appears after selecting
[Enabled], proceed to the next step.
4.
Right-click
[Wireless Network Connection]
to select [Properties], and select
[Show icon in notification area when connected]
. Click [OK].
