Changing Printer Resolution

Text and graphics printed by the printer consist of black dots. Even when you see
shades of gray, they are really composed of black dots on a white background, but
the dots are so small that your eye merges them and sees gray.

To change the printer resolution:

◆

Open the Graphics dialog box

◆

Click the arrow in the printer Resolution group box to choose either 600 or 
300 dpi resolution. 600 dpi requires more memory available in the PC.

Adjusting Brightness and Contrast

The Windows Printing System offers two controls for adjusting Brightness and
Contrast:

◆

Brightness lightens or darkens the graphics and color text.

◆

Contrast darkens the dark shades and lightens the light shades.

Adjustments affect all graphics in the document you’re printing. They also affect
colored text because the Windows Printing System converts colored text to shades
of gray.

To change Brightness, either type in a new value, or drag its scroll control left or
right to decrease (darken) or increase (lighten) the overall brightness.

Adjust Contrast in the same way.  Increasing Contrast simultaneously darkens the
dark shades and lightens the light shades, eventually eliminating gray tones and
leaving only pure black and white. On the other hand, decreasing Contrast
increases gray tones by lightening the dark shades and darkening the light shades. 

To restore the brightness and contrast to their default settings of 50, 

click on the Default button.
