System interconnection overview

The R5 Navigation System can be set up in a number of different ways.



As a standalone navigation system

One CDU unit, one sensor, one antenna



As a Combined Navigation and AIS system

Same as above, plus a transponder with additional (D)GNSS and VHF

antennas and an AIS junction box.



As multiple redundant navigation systems

Several instances of the standalone navigation system connected to the same

network, configured to synchronize navigation data.



One system with extra Navigation displays in view only mode (Master-Slave Mode)

One instance of the standalone system, plus additional slave (view only)

CDUs connected to the same network.
