To ensure your safety and satisfaction, carefully read through this
OWNER’S MANUAL before using the product.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING!
When using the appliance, the basic safety precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and
personal injury, including the following.
Read all these instructions before attempting to operate this
product and save these instructions.
For safe operation:

1. Do not leave the appliance plugged in when not in use, or while

being serviced. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before
servicing.

2. Do not use on wet surfaces. Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
3. Do not allow to be used as a toy.

Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

4. Use only as described in this manual. Use only the manufacturer’s

recommended attachments.

5. This appliance is provided with double insulation. Use only the

original equipment manufacturer’s replacement parts.

6. Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the appliance is not

working as it should or it has been dropped into water, return it to
an authorized service center.

7. Do not pull or carry the appliance by the extension cord, do not use

the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or pull the cord
around sharp edges or corners. Keep the cord away from heated
surfaces.

8. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not

the cord.

9. Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.

10. Do not put any object into openings.

Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dirt, debris and
anything that may reduce the air flow.

11. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from

openings and moving parts.

12. Do not vacuum up anything that is burning or smoking, such as

cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.

13. Do not use in the vacuum mode without the dust bag in place.
14. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as

gasoline or use in areas where they may be present.

15. Turn off all controls before unplugging.
16. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNINGS

1. WARNING : To reduce the risk of electrical shock, use only

extension cords approved for outdoor use. A 2-wire extension
cord (an extension cord without a ground) may be used
because the appliance is double-insulated. Extension cords
are available from your local retailer.

2. EXTENSION CORD - Make sure your cord is in good condition.

When using an extension cord, be sure to use a cord that is heavy
enough to carry the current that your appliance will draw. The table
shows the correct size to use depending on the cord length and
nameplate amperage rating. If in doubt, use the next size up.

3. The nameplate on this appliance indicates what voltage it uses.

Never connect the appliance to an AC voltage that differs from this
voltage.

4. Do not use in the presence of flammable liquids (such as gasoline)

or gases. Doing so may cause a fire or explosion and/or damage to
the appliance.

PRE-OPERATIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1. Thoroughly inspect your appliance for loose or damaged parts

every time before using it. If there are any loose or damaged parts,
perform the needed adjustment or repairs before starting your
appliance.

2. Keep all bystanders, especially children, at least 9.2 m (30 ft.) away

from the work area.

3. Inspect the area before starting the appliance. Remove all debris

and hard or sharp objects such as rocks, glass, wire, etc.

4. AVOID UNINTENTIONAL STARTING - Be sure that the appliance

switch is off when plugging in the appliance.

5. Always mount the nozzle before using the appliance.

OPERATIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1. Dress properly. Do not operate the appliance when barefoot or

wearing open sandals. Always wear sturdy, rubber-soled footwear.
The use of gloves, ear/hearing protection, and long trousers are
recommended.

2. Wear goggles or safety glasses at all times when operating this

appliance.

3. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing, or loose articles such as scarves,

strings, chains, ties, etc. They could get drawn into the air intake.
Also make sure long hair does not get drawn into the air intake.

4. Do not point the appliance in anyone’s direction or in the direction of

windows.

5. As a vacuum, the appliance is designed to pick up dry material such

as leaves, grass, small twigs and bits of paper. Do not attempt to
vacuum wet debris as this may result in damage to the appliance
and possible electric shock. To avoid severe damage to the
impeller, do not vacuum metal, broken glass, etc.

6. Unplug the appliance before attempting to install or remove the

nozzle. The appliance must be unplugged and the impeller blades
should no longer be turning to avoid contact with the rotating
blades.

7. Do not overreach or use the unit from unstable surfaces such as

ladders, trees, steep slopes, rooftops, etc. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times.

8. Avoid situations that could set the dust bag alight. Do not operate

near an open flame. Do not vacuum warm ash from fireplaces,
barbecue pits, etc. Do not vacuum discarded cigars or cigarettes
unless the cinders are completely cool.

9. Do not put part of your body such as hands and fingers in the

vacuum opening or exhaust opening, etc.

MAINTENANCE SAFETY WARNINGS

1. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when it is not in

use and before servicing.

2. Keep your appliance in good working condition. Only an

AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER or other QUALIFIED SERVICE
ORGANIZATION should perform maintenance procedures that
are not described in this manual.

3. Use only original replacement parts approved by RYOBI when

servicing this appliance. The use of non-standard parts, or other
accessories or attachments not designed for this appliance, could
result in serious injury to the user and/or damage to the appliance.

4. STORE THE APPLIANCE INDOORS - When not in use, the

appliance should be stored indoors in a dry and high place - out of
the reach of children.
Keep the appliance away from harmful substances such as solvents
and fertilizers.
