RETURN LINK HITTING REVERSING GEAR BOX ________________________________
Install new bumper stop assembly (Part No. 547708).
Replace rubber bumpers (Part No. 523126).
Check alignment of keyways on reversing gearbox as
shown in Figure 6B.
1.
Keyways must be aligned as shown in Figure 6B. If
the gears are off one tooth, the keyways will be
approximately 24° out of alignment. This
misalignment will cause one of the return links to hit
the rubber bumpers hard and hit the bottom of the
gearbox. Elongated holes in the turf, torn and tufted
turf, and broken tines could also result from this
condition.

2.
Check alignment of keyways by raising the aerating
head and making a gauge using the template in
Figure 6C. Place one edge along the bottom of the
hydraulic tank and the other edge along the vertical
link. Then hold the vertical link in place and move
the gauge to the other vertical link on the same
gearbox. The square edges of the gauge should fit
flush against the vertical link and the bottom of the
hydraulic tank, without moving the tine ram (See
Figure 6D next page).
