LAN35MH08HR & LAN35ME08HR User’s Manual
User-installed firmware upgrades will not affect the RedBoot boot loader. This is by design. The boot loader provides low level system
recovery and troubleshooting. In general, the boot loader should not be altered unless you have been given special instructions from RTD
Techsupport.

Use the 'firmware upgrade' command. Note that the switch must download CEServices.dat via TFTP, HTTP, FTP, etc. This will require you to
setup a server such as TFTPD32 on your local network to transfer the file and acquire an IP address for the switch via DHCP (see section 6.9).
Here is an example using a TFTP server:
#
firmware upgrade tftp://10.1.0.88/CEServices.dat
Downloaded "/CEServices.dat", 6157903 bytes
Waiting for firmware update to complete
Starting flash update - do not power off device!
Erasing image...
Programming image...
Process will take about 5 min.
DO NOT POWER OFF DEVICE DURING UPGRADE
. After the flash is erased and reprogrammed, device will
reboot. Run

to ensure proper firmware was loaded onto the device.

If a network connection is not available, it is also possible to upgrade the firmware via USB Serial Console using a terminal emulator program
like TeraTerm or HyperTerminal. This process involves deleting and creating images in the flash memory on the LAN35Mx08. It is
recommended that this be a last resort if the WebGUI and TFTP methods are unavailable. If you wish to use this method, it is preferred you
contact RTD Techsupport for help, as a wrong command can corrupt the flash memory and overwrite important data.
