Troubleshooting
Local KVM monitor blank or displaying “Invalid mode” message
n
Monitor cable connected Unit not powered on
n
Check power cable and source
No visible mouse
n
Exit the pass-through mode (Ctrl+Alt+P key)
n
Keyboard and mouse connections reversed on local ports
Green screen on the Viewer and no mouse
n
Exit the Pass-through mode (Ctrl+Alt+P key)
Viewer will not install on a Windows NT workstation
n
Workstation must be logged in as administrator
Viewer does not function properly on a Win95 workstation
n
A common Win95 dll file is not current, update Internet Explorer to version 5.0 or later
and this update will update the dll file
In the Quad view, the connection status window is always present in all quadrants
n
Configure the Rose KVM switch and change the system configuration, fadeout time to zero (disabled)
Mouse does not move
n
The UltraMatrix turned off after or not attached when computer booted or application began using mouse. Exit
and re-enter application using mouse or issue reset command.
n
PS/2 mouse was not attached when the UltraMatrix powered up or has been detached and reattached. Issue the
reset command.
PS/2 mouse gets out of sync
n
Reset the mouse by pressing and releasing the left Control Key, and then the R key.
n
Cabling was disturbed during mouse movement. Issue the null command once or twice to re-sync the mouse.
Get a later mouse driver that does not exhibit this problem.
Video fuzzy
n
Cable too long or wrong type. Verify that resolution and distance match Appendix I – Video Quality Chart
Upgrade cable if necessary.
Video not synchronized or wrong color
n
Cable is loose. Re-seat cable.
n
Wrong computer (CPU) cable used. If you have a 9515, 9517, 9518, XGA mono or similar monitor you must use
special cables or adapters.
n
Cable is defective. Try using cable from another computer (CPU). If problem goes away, cable is defective.
n
Port on the UltraMatrix is defective. Try using another port on the UltraMatrix. If problem goes away, port is
defective
