E. Route Tracks 7 & 8 to the MIX buss
1) Hold SHIFT and press Input/BUSS (CH EDIT button 1).
2) Press CH EDIT button 7 to select Channel 7.
3) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select ÒMIXÓ as the buss routing for Track 7.
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 for Track 8.
F. Record Tracks 1 through 6 to Tracks 7 & 8
1) Press the STATUS buttons on Tracks 7-8 until they are flashing red.
2) Make sure that channels 1-6 are in ÒPLAYÓ mode (green LED).
3) Arrange the levels, pans and effects of Tracks 1-6 as needed.
4) Press REC followed by PLAY to record the bounce.
Bouncing Tracks with Effects
You can add effects processing to the Inputs or Tracks that you are bouncing and record the effects to
Tracks 7 and 8 as well. Insert the following steps after Section B in the Bouncing Tracks: INPUT
MIX/TRACK MIX mode procedure (on the previous page) to add effects to the Inputs. Insert these same
steps after Section D to add effects to the Tracks.
A. Route the source Tracks to the EFFECTS Processor
1) Press CH EDIT button 1 to select Channel 1.
2) Hold SHIFT and press EFFECT 1 (CH EDIT button 7).
3) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select ÒPstFade.Ó
4) Repeat for all desired Tracks by selecting the corresponding Track number.
B. Select the EFFECTS
1) Press the EFFECT button (under EDIT CONDITION) until ÒEFFECT 1?Ó (or 2?) is displayed.
2) Press YES/ENTER.
3) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select the desired effect.
4) Press YES/ENTER to confirm your selection.
C. Route the outputs of the EFFECTS Processor
1) Press the EDIT button (found over the MASTER fader) until ÒEFFECT 1 RTN To=Ó is displayed.
2) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select ÒEFFECT 1 RTN=7-8Ó, to route the effect to Buss 7-8.
3) Press the PARAMETER right button and use the TIME/VALUE Dial to set the return level.
4) Press the PARAMETER right button and use the TIME/VALUE Dial to set the return balance.
The effects will now be routed to Tracks 7-8 and will be recorded along with the source Tracks.
VIII.
SAVING YOUR SONG
Working with the VS-880 is similar to working with a computer and itÕs a good idea to save your work
frequently. There are two methods to save your song to disk:
1) Press STOP to stop your song.
2) Hold SHIFT and press STORE (ZERO).
3) The unit will display ÒStore Current ?Ó Press YES/ENTER.
The unit will display ÔCompleteÕ when your song has been saved.
When you are done working with the VS-880 for the day, it is important to use the appropriate procedure to
power off the unit. This is referred to as the Ôshut downÕ procedure. Use the following procedure:
1) Hold SHIFT and press SHUT EJECT (STOP).
2) ÒSTORE Current ?Ó will be displayed.
3) Press YES/ENTER.
4) Power off the unit when prompted.
By now you should have a good idea how to perform the basic operations that are required to produce
great sounding, high quality digital recordings with the VS-880. We have covered some important
concepts such as the overall layout of the VS-880, recording, effects routing, using Virtual Tracks, Track
editing, and many other functions that should help you operate your VS-880. With a little practice most of
these procedures will become second nature and you will find that recording with the VS-880 is extremely
fast and effortless.
