The test strip has already been used.

Use a fresh test strip.

The test strip is too old or has been incorrectly stored.

Check the expiry date and storage conditions of the
test strips. Keep the test strip container tightly
closed at all times. 
For Accutrend

®

Glucose only: check for discol-

oration of the unused strip by comparing the colour
of the round window on the back of the strip with
the colour scale on the label of the Accutrend

®

Glucose test strip container. The yellow colour of the
round window on the back of the strip should match
the yellow colour indicating “neg” on the label. If the
colour of the test window is darker, the test strip
may not be used.

The test strip guide is dirty.

Clean the guide carefully (see Section 5.2).

No blood was applied to the test strip.

Repeat the measurement applying a drop of blood
to the strip (see Section 3.2).

Too much ambient light.

Move the meter to a darker place.
