(3) EMP-5SL
The directional control valve installed in the EMP-5SL is a four-way, two-position solenoid
directional valve (ESL-4S). The hydraulic oil discharged from the pump is discharged to Port
A when the lever is at the normal position or to Port B when the solenoid (SOL b) is
magnetized.
Example of use with a double-acting cylinder (for reference):
An example is shown below where a double-acting cylinder automatically performs a cycle of
operation. Connect Port B with the push side of the cylinder and Port A with the pull side to
form an electric circuit.
(A) Set a required pressure for the pressure switch (PS).
(B) Press the push control button (PB1).
(C) The motor is activated. At the same time, the solenoid is magnetized and the cylinder
piston comes out.
(D) The solenoid is demagnetized when the pressure has increased to the set pressure for
the pressure switch, and the piston retracts.
(E) The return-end limit switch outputs a signal that stops the motor, causing the piston to
stop.
* If a malfunction occurs during operation, press the push control button (PB2). The piston
starts retracting and stops.
* Because the directional control valve (ESL-4S) is of a spool type, it is accompanied by
internal leaks and hence cannot maintain pressure.
