When using a one-touch coupler of the ROC-13
series, align the concave ring portion of the ROC-
13H coupler with the notch. Then, while pulling the
ring, insert the ROC-13H coupler until it touches the
ROC-13R coupler and release the ring. The coupler
is automatically locked and connected. After that,
turn the ring to displace the notch and concave
portion from each other to complete the connection
process. Finally, pull the ROC-13H coupler to check
that the coupler is securely connected and does not
come out.

(B) Connecting with a high-pressure pipe
Refer to the sections of iron pipe and bite type tube fitting of the general catalogue to
connect a high-pressure pipe.
For the standard types of EMP-5SL and EMP-5SW, any wiring for a directional control valve
is not provided. Refer to the “Operation Method” on pages 15 to 17 to wire the valve
according to the purpose.
6 Preparations before Use
The rotation direction of the pump is determined. Check that each pump rotates in the arrow
direction (counterclockwise seen from the top of the motor) shown on the side of the motor.
At no load, turn the activation switch to “ON” for a moment to inch the pump, and check the
rotation direction with the fan in upper part of the motor. If it rotates in a wrong direction,
change two phases of the three phases of the motor and check the rotation direction again.
The cylinder does not operate smoothly if air is contained in the piping. Bleed air from the
high pressure hose or pipe. Basically, air-bleeding is performed as follows.
For the EMP-5B
(A) When using a high-pressure hose
a) Attach a matching coupler to the coupler at the end of the high-pressure hose from which air
is to be removed.
Example For S-1H coupler, S-1R coupler.
For ROC-13H coupler, ROC-13R coupler.
b) Remove the plug from the return port and screw the coupler lightly.
c) Tighten the lever of the directional control valve.
d) Inch the motor (see “Operation Method” on page 15).
e) When the hydraulic oil comes out of the coupler, the air-bleeding is completed.
If the cylinder piston is installed to face downward or if the cylinder is not fixed and hence
moves easily, air in the cylinder and high pressure hose can be removed by feeding the
hydraulic oil, with the piston facing downward, to operate the piston a few times.
