Second carriage
Moves to keep the distance between the xenon lamp
and the CCD constant, and sends light reflected from
the 1st carriage to the CCD.

First carriage
Moves the xenon lamp along the document and sends
the light reflected from the document to the 2nd
carriage by means of a mirror.

Guide rails
Hold the first and second carriages and guide their
movement.

Scanner drive wires
Transmit motor power to the 1st and 2nd carriages.

Motor gear box
The gears in this box drive the motor belts that drive
the scanner.

Motor belt 2
Transmit motor power to the scanner drive wires.

Motor belt 1

Pulleys
Hold the scanner drive wires.

Wire spring
Tightens the scanner drive wires.
