SM

6.5 SMPS AND HVPS

The SMPS and HVPS are on the same board. The SMPS supplies DC power to
the system. It takes either 110V or 220V and outputs the +5V and +24VS to the
main and other circuit boards.

The HVPS creates the high voltage for the THV/MHV/Supply/Dev circuits and
supplies it to the toner cartridge. The CPU modifies the voltage settings to provide
ideal voltages to create images. The HVPS uses the 24V to output the high voltage
for the THV/MHV/BIAS circuitry. Then the high voltage output is supplied to the
toner, OPC cartridge, and transfer roller.
