3. MAINTENANCE
RGK
recommend taking your wheelchair to a qualified dealer for a thorough inspection and
servicing every 6 months. Regular cleaning will reveal loose or worn parts and enhance the
smooth operation or your wheelchair.
To operate correctly and safely, your wheelchair must be cared for just like any other vehicle.
Routine maintenance will extend the life and efficiency of your wheelchair. Initial adjustments
should be made to suit your personal body structure and preference.
3.1. SAFETY INSPECTION CHECKLIST

recommends inspecting the wheelchair using the following table. If a problem is found,
it should be taken to an authorised

dealer and rectified before next use.

GENERAL
Wheelchair rolls straight
Check all fasteners are secure.
Check all parts for damage and wear.
SEAT AND BACK UPHOLSTERY
Inspect for rips or sagging.
Inspect fastening flaps to ensure they securely latch
Check position is suitable
REAR WHEELS (ex. Hand rims and tyres)
Wheels run freely
Adjustable camber bar is securely tightened.
Quick release axles lock properly
No excessive side movement when lifted and rotated.
Inspect for bent or broken spokes.
All spokes uniformly tight.
HANDRIMS
Inspect for signs of rough edges or peeling.
Check hand rims are secure to wheel rim
TYRES
Inspect for flat spots, cracks and excessive wear
If pneumatic tyres check pressure.
FRONT CASTOR
Inspect wheel assembly for wheel resistance.
Inspect wheel assembly for rattle.
Wheel bearings are clean and free of moisture.
CLEANING
Polish quick-release axle polish (DO NOT OIL)
Polish frame paintwork
Disassemble castor assembly and clean
3.2. TROUBLE SHOOTING
If you are having difficulties with your wheelchair, please look at the following table before
contacting your
RGK
dealer. If the problem is not included in this list or has not corrected
the problem, then please contact your
RGK
dealer.
WARNING!
After making adjustments, always make sure that parts are correctly tightened
BEFORE using the wheelchair.
WARNING!
DO NOT over-tighten hardware attaching to the frame. This could cause
damage to the frame.
