STEP 3: Release detent button ensuring that the locking pins are fully released.
STEP 4: Increase or decrease the stroke by adjusting the locknut on the end of the
quick-release axle with a 19mm spanner, whilst carefully holding the opposite end, in a
vice or with an adjustable spanner,
see image 12
. Ensure the end of the pin is not
damaged during this operation.
STEP 5: Reinstall rear wheel onto the chair with quick release axle pin.
WARNING!
Ensure quick release axle secures the wheel securely to the frame. If you
are unsure about this procedure, ask your RGK dealer.
4.5. REAR WHEELS
The following section contains information regarding hand rim replacement, and tyre and
inner tube replacement.
4.5.1. REPLACING HAND RIM
Follow the steps below to replace the hand rim;
STEP 1: Remove the rear wheel from the chair.
STEP 2: Release all air from the tube by pressing down on the pin in the centre of the
valve stem.
STEP 3: Remove the tyre, inner tube and rim tape from the wheel.
STEP 4: Secure the
‘Pozi’ drive head screws and remove 4-6 locknuts that secure the
hand rim to the rear wheel.
STEP 5: Remove the existing hand rim, taking note of the setting position.
STEP 6: Install the NEW hand rim by reversing the above procedures.

recommend replacing the nuts and bolts.
STEP 7: Refit rim tape around centre of the wheel rim, ensuring the ‘Pozi’ drive heads
are covered, and is finished by overlapping the end points.
STEP 8: Reverse steps 3 to 5 to fit inner tube and tyre.
STEP 9: Inflate the tyre to the correct pressure rating on the sidewall of the tyre.
STEP 10: Reinstall rear wheel to the chair.
WARNING!
The rim tape MUST FULLY
cover the ‘Pozi’ drive screw heads to prevent
inner tube damage.
4.5.2. REPLACING REAR WHEEL TYRE AND INNER TUBE
Follow the steps below to replace the tyre and inner tube for the rear wheels;
STEP 1: Remove rear wheel from the chair.
STEP 2: Remove all air from the tube by pressing down on the pin in the centre of the
valve stem.
Secure this end in a
vice or with an
adjustable spanner
Secure this end with
19mm spanner.
