The discharge current must not exceed the value stated on the rechargeable battery.
For example, if "20C" is printed on the LiPo rechargeable battery, the maximum discharging current is
20 times the battery’s capacity (e.g. battery capacity = 1000 mAh, max. discharging current = 20C = 20x
1000 mA = 20 A).
Exceeding the maximum current may cause the rechargeable battery to overheat or become deformed/
swollen, which can lead to a fire or explosion!
The printed value (e.g. 20C) indicates the maximum current that the rechargeable battery can deliver for
a short period. The continuous current should not be higher than one half of the stated value.
•
Make sure that the individual cells of a rechargeable lithium battery are not deeply discharged. This may
destroy the battery or cause permanent damage.
If the model does not have deep discharge protection or a low battery indicator, stop using it before the
battery becomes empty.
8. Charging drive batteries for the vehicle
•
The product comes with two 2-cell LiPo drive batteries and a matching LiPo charger. To charge the drive battery,
refer to the operating instructions for the charger and section 7 of these operating instructions.
Caution!
The LiPo charger should only be used to charge a LiPo drive battery. Attempting to charge a NiMH
drive battery with the LiPo charger may cause a fire or explosion!
A LiPo drive battery should only be charged with a suitable LiPo charger (and a NiMH rechargeable battery
with a NiMH charger only). So always make sure to use a charger suitable for the battery technology.
•
Only insert one LiPo drive battery into the LiPo charger and fully charge both drive batteries one after another.
•
The drive battery is empty when the product is shipped and must be charged. Several complete discharge and
charge cycles are required to ensure that the drive battery reaches its maximum performance.
•
For rechargeable batteries with NiMH or LiPo technology, recharging partially discharged batteries does not cause
any problems. Initial complete discharge is not required.
•
Rechargeable batteries heat up while charging or discharging (i.e. as you operate the vehicle). Wait until the re-
chargeable battery has reached room temperature before charging it. The same applies after the charging process.
Do not use a rechargeable battery in the vehicle until it has cooled down sufficiently after the charging process.
