7.5.3. Advanced Settings
Under normal operating conditions there is little to change here.
Some items of interest include:
Default Filtering Scheme:
impacts the amount of content filtering that is applied
to a webpage, by removing elements, before presenting it to the end user. It
determines the amount of filtering to be done to the page. “Light” has the least
impact and is not recommended for those on low data plans. “Aggressive” has the
most impact and is suggested for the best bandwidth utilization. This blocks
YouTube, flash, etc.
Debug Level:
determines what will show on the Web Compression and Filtering
‘Log’ page. Adding the debug
level of “1”, all URLs will be logged and will appear
on the Log page, one line per URL.
CAUTION: Utilization of debug level 1 is not recommended for normal operation.
The Log files are kept in RAM and with debug level 1 activated you run the risk
of RAM filling up, the Swap Partition filling up and the router might crash.
BEST PRACTICE: Activate debug level 1 for testing that your setup is working as you
intend, i.e., the proxy server working as expected, and that whitelists and blacklists are
working as expected. Deactivate debug level 1 when testing is complete.
