12. Manual switch

The  drive  unit  is  activated  with  the  manual  switch
(stepless  adjustment)  and  activates  the

“lifting”

and

“lowering”

of  the  lifter  arm.  For  the  desired

action,  the  button  is  kept  pressed  down  (LED  illu-
minates).  When  releasing  the  button,  the  drive
automatically stops (LED does not illuminate).

13. Wheel brakes

Both  wheel brakes are an important safety feature
whenever using the Patient Hoist. The back swivel
castors are equipped  with  wheel brakes and allow
the locking of the rear wheels.

 Warning! Danger of tipping over!

Both rear wheels must be braked.

Press  the  wheel  brake
levers  down  with  your
foot.  The  wheels  are
now  locked  and  the  di-
rection is secured.
Be  sure  that  the  wheels
are  not  swivelled  in-
wards.

The  wheel  brakes  can
be  released  simply  by
lifting  up  the  lever  with
your foot.

14. Emergency lowering / jamming protection

14.1 Electric emergency lowering

A  fully  charged  battery  has  a  capacity  of  50  lift-
ing/lowering  cycles  with  a  load.  When  the  battery
is  almost  empty,  the  yellow  LED  blinks  and  an
acoustic peeping tone is given off.
One  lifting/lowering  cycle  is  still  possible,  but  then
the

rechargeable battery must be recharged!

14.2 Mechanical emergency lowering

In  the  event  the  patient  becomes  exposed  to  an
emergency situation, or an electrical defect occurs
with the drive motor, or the control unit fails, or the
battery  is  completely  uncharged,  then  it  becomes
necessary  to  use  the  mechanical  emergency  low-
ering system.

Warning! Risk of injury!

When  using  emergency  mechanical  lowering,
do not stand under the lifter arm.

By  rotating  the  red  grip  (A)  counter  clockwise  at
the end of the stroke tube (B), the lifter arm can be
lowered until it reaches the striker.

Warning! Do not rotate the tube (B)!

14.3 Jamming protection

A  pin  contact  is  located
just  beneath  the  motor.  If
the lifter arm is loaded and
lowered,

and

travels

against  an  obstruction,
then  the  lifter  arm  raises
and the contact to the mo-
tor is interrupted.

Do not put the Patient Hoist in operation if the still
motor runs when the contact is interrupted!

15. Stability

– spreading the base

The  foot  pedal  allows  the  spreading  of  the  base
members  (left  and  right)  and  thus  facilitates  mov-
ing the unit to the area of use. Press the foot pedal
all the way down to the stop.

 Warning! Danger of tipping over!

Spread the base members only when the rear
wheel locks are fully disengaged!
