Although Proto-Sound 2.0hasbeendesignedandengineeredforeaseofuse,youmay
have some questions during initial operation. Thefollowing table should answer most

This is normalbehavior. To prevent accidental
high-speedstart-ups,Proto-Sound2.0is
programmedtostartupinneutralanytimetrack
power hasbeen turned off forseveralseconds. See
the "Basic Operation"section for more details.
Youmaynotbesendingenoughpowertothetrack
topowertheengine. Press thethrottle upforafew
moresecondstoincreasetrackpower.
Thebattery mayhave rundown, especially if the
engine has been in storage for some time. Seethe
"Self-ChargingBatteryBack-Up"section of these
instructions for howtotest,recharge,and(if
necessary)replace thebattery.
Coupler
Remedy
When I trytofirethecoupler,PSAstarts.
TheProto-Coupler won'tlettheengine
uncoupleonthefly.
Thecouplerdoesnotfireorstaycoupled.
Youarewaitingtoolongbetweenwhistlebutton
presses.See thetiming instructions locatedatthe
beginning of the"Proto-Sound 2.0 Operating
Instructions" section.
Try lubricatingthe coupler knuckle and rivet with
a dry graphite lubricant.
Thecouplerneedstobecleaned. Wipe with
denatured alcohol(notrubbingalcohol)andlet
dry.
Cab Chatter
Remedy
Sometimesthe Cab Chatter soundsdon't
play.
CabChatterplaysonlyinneutralatrandom
intervals.
Lock-out
Remedy
I can't gettheenginetorunafterIpowerup
the transformer. Itsitsstillwiththediesel
andcompressorsounds running.
Theengine won'tlockintoforward,neutral,
orreverse.
Theengine maybelocked into theneutral
position. Follow theprocedure inthe"Lockintoa
Direction" sectiontounlock theengine's direction.
Enginespeedmustbebelow10scalemph
(approx.10 volts or less in conventional mode).
