If there is a marked change in the user’s weight,  or the wheelbase is reassigned to an-
other user,  we would recommend you telephone the Wheelchair  Centre to check that 
the gas strut setting is correct.  Details on weight and gas strut settings are shown in sec-
tion 5.

        Repairs  

 

 
Any repairs should be referred to your Wheelchair Service in the first instance.

        Maintenance 

 

It is important that regular maintenance is carried out on the wheelbase, which will maxi-
mise the life of the equipment - see section 19. 
 

We trust that you find the Radcliffe  Wheelbase suitable for your needs and the informa-
tion contained in this Handbook is of assistance.

Travel in Aircraft 

 

If the wheelbase is being transported in an aircraft hold whether it is folded or unfolded, 
please ensure that it is padded securely – particularly to protect the tilt mechanism, e.g.

Change of User

 

If the equipment is reassigned to a different user, it is essential for the Wheelchair Cen-
tre’s Rehabilitation Engineer to check the gas strut is set to the correct new total weight 
of the user plus seat.  We would also recommend that the Regular Maintenance and 
Inspection, as detailed above,  is carried out.

TROUBLESHOOTING 

Prior to contacting your wheelchair service, their approved repairer or Radcliffe, please 
go through the following checks : 
 

“The wheelbase will not tilt” 

check that the occupant is in the wheelbase, before attempting to tilt - the com-
bined weight of the user and seat, works with the gas strut setting to ensure a smooth 
movement through the tilt positions. 

check that the carer is pressing the gas strut  pedal and then pushing down on the 
handles. 

if the wheelbase has been standing unused for some time, see comment at 5.1.

 

 

“The wheelbase is difficult to tilt” 

check that the gas strut is set to the correct position - see section 5. 

if the wheelbase has been standing unused for some time, ask another carer (of the 
correct weight) to sit in the wheelbase and move up and down through the tilt posi-
tions 3 or 4 times to lubricate the gas strut – see 5.1.

 

 

If the problem persists contact your Wheelchair Service in the first instance.

 WARRANTY

 

 

The warranty commences from date of delivery to the Wheelchair Service. 

The period against defects for the wheelbase frame is 24 months. 

The period against defects for a refurbished wheelbase frame is 12 months. 

The period against defects for components is 12 months. 

This warranty excludes castor tyres, wheel tyres and misuse or abuse. 

A warranty claim should be made in writing stating the chassis number. 

Warranty applicable to parts replaced under warranty would normally be as 
above, however any changes arising, will be quoted at time of replacement.

ing the changes may be held responsible.  Radcliffe Rehabilitation Services cannot 
be held liable for any changes or modification made to their products once they
