Troubleshooting
If you encounter problems while installing or configuring the DXi6900, see Table 1 for troubleshooting steps.

Problem
Corrective Action
The system does not power on.
Make sure all power cords are connected to a grounded electrical outlet and the
power switches located on the back of the power supplies are on.
An error or warning occurs
during Pick to Order (PTO)
configuration indicating there is
a problem with a hardware
component or that the
configuration is not valid.
1. Exit the
Service Menu
and turn off the Node by typing
shutdown
and
pressing
<Enter>
at the command prompt.
2. Turn off both power switches on the back of each Array and Expansion
module.
3. Make sure all hard drives are inserted completely and all hard drive latches
are closed.
4. Make sure all memory modules are fully inserted in the memory slots (see
Installing the Memory Modules on page 21
).
5. If present, make sure the optional network card is securely seated in the
Installing the Optional Network Cards on page 25
).
6. Make sure all SAS and power cables are securely connected to the correct

8. Return to the
Pick to Order Menu
).
9. Select the
Reset PTO
option, and perform PTO configuration again,
starting with Step 0.
Note:
If you have already performed Step 2 RAID initialize, you do
not need to start RAID initialization again.
You are unable to log on to the
remote management console
using a laptop connected to the
DXi6900.
Make sure the laptop is connected to Ethernet port 1 on the DXi6900 and that
the network settings on the laptop are properly configured (see
). Make sure to wait at least 30 minutes after turning
on the system before attempting to log on.
Try a different Ethernet cable.
The following message
displays when you log on to the
remote management console:
There are service tickets that
require attention.
Click
OK
to display the
Service Tickets
page, or navigate to the
Alerts >
Service Tickets
page. Click a ticket number to view details about the service
ticket. Perform any suggested steps listed in the ticket details.
