DIMM Population Rules

The memory slots of DDR3 channels from the "SNB/IVB –EP
processor" should be populated on a farthest first fashion. This
means that A2 cannot be populated/used if A1 is empty. See
the following illustrations for instructions on RDIMM, UDIMM,
and LR-DIMM population.
