15.3.5 Set Point Operation
On ePAQ subsystems programmed to support Set Point operation, the test panel
can set setpoint values on IEDs only.
15.3.6 Master-Remote Communications Monitoring
In this mode of operation, the test panel can be set to monitor two-way
communications between the Master Station and ePAQ.
15.3.7 Security Features
Upon start up of the test panel software (HyperTerminal, et. al.), the test panel
connection can be configured through ConfigWiz 2.0 to require a user name /
password.
The remote connection supports encryption, but the local serial connection does not.
Also, controls can not be tested via the remote connection.
15.4 Getting Started
15.4.1 Preparing to Install USB Driver
Initial connection to the ePAQ USB port using a PC, involves installation of a special
ePAQ
USB driver onto the PC, and setup of the PC’s “HyperTerminal” or other
communications program.
The USB driver makes the ePAQ USB connection appear to the PC as a COM port
connection.
Before installing the driver, check which COM ports are already installed on your
Windows XP system, using Windows Device Manager. This information will be
needed when establishing a new “HyperTerminal” session for test panel
communications after the driver is installed.
15.4.2 Installing the USB Driver
Installation of the USB driver may be automatically performed when installing the
ConfigWiz 2.0 software on the PC. If the driver has not been automatically installed,
or if using the test panel with a PC that does not have ConfigWiz 2.0, follow the steps
below to install the driver. If you have previously installed the driver, you can skip to
the next section.
1) Power up the ePAQ-9405 and wait for the heartbeat (HBT) Led to begin flashing.
2) Connect a USB type A-B cable between the ePAQ and PC.

On the PC, the “Found New Hardware” Wizard should appear.
4)
Tell the wizard NOT to connect to Windows Update, and choose “Install driver
from a specific location”.
