5.4 CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS

This appliance must be installed according to the instructions on the unit’s certification label.
DO NOT USE MAKESHIFT MATERIALS OR COMPROMISES IN THE INSTALLATION OF THIS
UNIT.
The furnace can be installed on a combustible floor. However, a non-combustible floor protector must
cover all surfaces underneath the furnace. It must be prolonged 18’’ in front of the furnace and 8’’ on
each side of the loading door. The non-combustible floor protector must also cover all surfaces
underneat
h the chimney connector and extending at least 2’’ on either side of the chimney connector.
The Alterna II
furnace’s air return plenum can be connected to a new or to an existing air return
ductwork. In both cases, the minimum clearance to combustible mate
rial is 0” (0 mm).
