Configuration of the intercom system
KDC1905 cassette is supplied with a standard parameter set. These settings are correct for most simple installations,
but they are not optimal for every system. Optimizing system performance requires individual settings .
7.1
Connecting PBX and satellites – addressing devices
For proper system operation, all connected keyboards must be distinguishable by the PBX, so each keypad must be
assigned an address. It is possible to assign addresses manually or to use the self -addressing function (from program
7r42).
7.1.1
Manual addressing
Assignment of the cassette to a given address is carried out in program A-8 (chapter 4.9) in parameter number 001. To
assign the keyboard to a given address, enter the serial number of this cassette in parameter X001, where X is the
required address (see chapter 4.9.1). Addressing is necessary due to system configuration – each keyboard has a separate
set of parameters, which, after being defined by the installer, will be used as a substitute for global parameters .
The control panel always has the address “1”. Satellites can be freely addressed from number 2 to number 7 .
7.1.2
Automatic addressing
From version 7r42 the KDC1905 cassette can detect and address the satellite keyboards connected to it. It is possible
to use this mechanism, but manual numbering of keyboards is recommended due to the fact that parameters are
assigned to specific keyboards.
KDC1905 detects connected KDC1915 satellite keyboards and assigns them to free address (those for which the
parameter x001 has not been defined). If the pool of free addresses is full, these keyboards can be addressed to
manually assigned addresses (i.e. instead of keyboards that for some reason have been disassembled or physically
disconnected from the rest of installation).
7.2
Global and local parameters
Parameters are divided into global and local parameters. Global parameters are defined in the range 0 – 999. For
simplicity only these numbers will be used in the manual. Global settings are common for all devices (using the lock
code will open the lock attached to keyboard, where the code has been selected). Local parameters enable to change
the operation of a particular keyboard, without interfering with the functionality of other devices in the system. After
defining the local parameter for e.g. satellite 2., this cassette will not check the global parameter, but will refer to the
local parameter (for example, out of 3 doors that are to open the cassettes, one is closed with an electromagnetic
jumper). The locking settings should be changed then, but in the local parameter o f particular keyboard to which the
jumper is connected. The lock parameters are also available by graphical programming).
To change the local parameter, add a prefix to the global number, which is the address of keyboard. For
example, satellite 3 will have prefix 4. Keyboard from PBX has prefix 1. For example, parameter 5411 will be the
local equivalent of parameter 411 for keyboard no. 5.
NOTE! All parameters are stored in the keyboard with PBX module, satellite keyboards do not
store any data.
Note!
In case of KDC1905 control panels with older software, the additional cassettes will not operate until they
are manually addressed.
