Operation of the Optional System Maintenance Bypass
(SMB)
The optional System Maintenance Bypass (SMB) is available with electrical
controls. The SMB electrical controls are available with or without Redundant
CBP controls. Operations of each configuration is detailed below.
CAUTION:
The critical load is not protected while the Parallel Capacity/Redundant
system is in Maintenance Bypass or Bypass mode.
10.4.1 Operation with Electrical Controls
NOTE:
Refer to Drawing 164201373---11 in Appendix A for the location of the
Maintenance Bypass key switch.
Transfer to Maintenance Bypass:
1.
Ensure power is supplied to the MBP breaker input before attempting transfer
to maintenance bypass.
2.
On SSBM, ensure that SSBM CBS breaker is open or system is not on inverter.
3.
On SSBM, turn the Maintenance Bypass key switch to the left
(TO MAINTENANCE) momentarily.
4.
Observe MBP closes and MIS opens. System is now on maintenance bypass.
5.
To shutdown SSBM and UPMs, follow procedure under
SSBM Shutdown to
Bypass.
6.
On SSBM, open CBP and FBP breakers.
