INSTALLING THE PRESSURE SWITCH
1. Apply 2 wraps of thread tape to threads of the pressure switch screw.
2. Screw in the pressure switch to 1/4 in. on the side of pump. Carefully
tighten the pressure switch with a wrench.
3. Remove the pressure switch cover to expose the wiring terminals.
4. Insert motor wires through the side hole of the pressure switch and attach
to the two flag terminals inside that are marked ‘load’.
5. Connect the green ground wire of the motor and the power supply to the
switch’s ground terminals.
6. Connect the power supply wire to the two outside pressure switch
terminals marked ‘line’ and replace the switch cover.
CAUTION Make certain that the power supply conforms to the electrical
specifications of the motor supplied.
PUMP INSTALLATION
Complete the following preparations before attaching the pump to your pumping system.
1. Use thread tape or a pipe joint compound for all threaded connections to the pump. Use PVC cement for
PVC pipes.
2. Attach a 1 in. pipe to the pump’s discharge port
3. Attach the suction pipe to the front of the pump with a union connector. A union connector makes servicing
the pump easier. Leave room to use wrenches to disassemble the union connector. Tighten the connector
to 140 ft-Ib.
4. Bolt the pump to a solid, level foundation. Support all piping connected to the pump.
The pump is now ready to be hooked into the pumping system.
OPERATION
PRIMING THE PUMP
CAUTION! Do not touch an operating motor or engine. They are designed to operate at high temperatures and
may inflict a burn injury.
IMPORTANT! Pump must be primed. Make sure pump is full of water before running. Failure to do so will
damage to the pump.
1. Remove priming plug.
2. Fill pump and suction pipe with water until water runs out of the priming port.
3. Replace priming plug and hand tighten.
4. Start the pump. Unit should pump water within 30 seconds. If not, stop pump and repeat steps 1 through 3.
On first use of pump, it may be necessary to reprime the unit three or four times before all the air is forced
out of the suction pipe.
5. Once the pump is primed, tighten the priming plug. Remember to close the faucets. Once the preceding
instructions have been completed, the pump can be started.
