3A. USING THE VEHICLE AS A BICYCLE TRAILER
INSTALLING THE AXLE HITCH ARM (J) TO THE TOWING BICYCLE
The hitch assembly is always mounted to the left side of the bicycle
(relative to the direction of travel) and consists of two parts: a hitch
connector (J1), which is attached to the hitch arm (J), and an axle hitch
(J2), which must be mounted to the rear axle of the towing bicycle.
WARNING
: Before installing the axle hitch (J2), you must first check
whether the towing bicycle is suitable for pulling trailers. This information
can be obtained from the bicycle manufacturer, a bicycle shop or the
owner’s manual of the bicycle. This trailer is compatible with bicycles
with 9mm quick-release type rear wheels and solid wheel axles up to
10mm. Pulling a trailer with a bicycle that has not been approved by its
manufacturer for use as a towing bicycle can result in frame breakage or
other material damage which could cause accidents with serious injury
or death.
A1
. To install the hitch arm (J) on your bicycle, first, unlock and remove the
hitch arm locking pin (J3), then slide the hitch arm (J) to the front of the
trailer and lock it into position with the locking pin (J3).
A2
. Then the axle hitch (J2) should be installed on the towing bicycle rear
wheel axle. To do that, first, unlock and remove the hitch arm connector
locking pin (J4), then tighten the axle hitch (J2) on the left side of the
bicycle rear wheel axle, respecting the tightening torque of the bicycle.
A3
. When the axle hitch (J2) is properly installed, the hitch arm connector
(J1) can be inserted in the axle hitch (J2) and locked in position with hitch
arm connector locking pin (J4).
A4
. Finally, place the hitch arm safety strap (J5) around the bicycle frame
(for example on the seat stay tubes).
WARNING
: Never leave the security pins hanging freely from their straps.
They could get caught on passing objects and be pulled off, damaging
parts of the vehicle.
A5
. CHECK PROPER WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION AND HITCH-ARM LOAD
For safe handling, the weight on the hitch connector (J1) should be
between 0.1kg (0.2Ib) and 4 kg(8.8Ib); the hitch armload (nose weight) is
associated with an even distribution of weight in the trailer.
If the center of gravity is too far forward, the hitch connector will be
overloaded. If the center of gravity is too far behind the wheels, the rear
wheel of the towing bicycle could lose traction, especially when making
turns. If the center of gravity is too far right or left, the trailer has a stronger
tendency to tip over when making turns. Check the weight on the hitch
connector (J1) before using the vehicle as a Bicycle Trailer.
Follow these steps, using your bathroom scales, to determine the weight
on the hitch connector: Place the rear wheel of your bicycle on your
bathroom scales and take note of the weight. Then, attach the hitch arm
to the bicycle, and then load the trailer with the kids and/or cargo you
want to transport. The weight shown on the scales should be between
0.1kg(0.2Ib) and 4 kg(8.8Ib) more than the initial weight. If the value is
not within this interval, weight distribution inside the trailer should be re-
arranged to ensure a stable and safe ride.
A6
. INSTALLING THE SAFETY FLAG (K)
The safety flag (K) makes it easier for other road users to see the trailer,
increasing your child’s safety, as well as your own. Therefore, never use the
3B. USING THE VEHICLE AS A STROLLER
WARNING
: For the stroller version use, first, you have to check if you have
the hitch arm (J) retracted and locked under the trailer. If it doesn’t, please
check the HOW TO RETRACT THE HITCH ARM step, in the previous chapter.
WARNING
: You can not use the trailer as a stroller if the hitch arm (J) is not
retracted and locked under the trailer.
B1
. INSTALLING THE STROLLER WHEEL KIT (L)
First, open the rain cover (G) and the anti-bug net (F) and lift the front of
the vehicle, or tip the frame onto its back end.
B2
. Then, to install the Stroller-wheel socket (L1), you have to unscrew and
remove the 2 screws, washers and nuts (L2) installed on the front/down
of the trailer, as showed in the picture (screws inside and nuts outside of
the trailer). To help you with this step you will need a 10mm wrench key
from the trailer’s outside and an Allen Key No. 4 from the inside (tools not
included). Put Stroller-wheel socket (L1) at the same place and then use
the removed screws and nuts (L2) to attach the Stroller-wheel socket (L1)
on the trailer chassis (A). Make sure the screws and nuts (L2) are screwed,
using the tools above referred, with a recommended torque of 5N.m.
B3
. Insert the Stroller 6,5’’ wheel (L5) into the Stroller-wheel socket (L1) as
far as it will go. You should be able to hear a click sound.
WARNING
: Wheels that are not securely locked could fall off while riding,
resulting in accidents and serious injury or death.
B4
. During the strolling, you can choose to lock the stroller 6,5” wheel (L5)
to the front or just let it move freely. If you choose to lock it, you must steer
the wheel forward and slide up the stroller-wheel lock button (L4).
B5
. ATTACHING THE HANDLEBAR (M).
The handlebar (M) is used for pushing the trailer as a stroller.
To place the handlebar (M) on the trailer chassis tube, first, you have
to fold the trailer for having a better screws access. Open the luggage
compartment (I), unlock, simultaneously, the folding system buttons (A4)
by moving the white button out and rotate them inwards, and then move
the upper chassis structure downwards.
B6
. Before attaching the handlebar, make sure the safety strap (M3) is
mounted on the handlebar. If the handlebar has been installed without the
safety wrist strap (M3), remove it and reinstall it with the safety wrist strap (M3).
Then place the handlebar (M) on the trailer chassis tubes (A1) and insert
the screws (M1) and tighten them on both sides by using an Allen Key No.
3, with a recommended torque of 5N.m. Check if the handlebar (M) is real
locked before start using the trailer.
B7
. Now unfold the trailer. Pull the upper tube (A3) upwards, until you
can reach the interior of the luggage compartment (I) and make sure
WARNING
: Check tire (C2) pressure before use. Always inflate tires (C2) to
the inflation level specified on the outer sidewall of the tires.
WARNING
: Wheels that are not securely locked could fall off while riding,
resulting in accidents and serious injury or death.
WARNING
: Make sure that both locking mechanisms (A4) located inside
of the rear luggage compartment (I) are securely engaged. There should
be no movement in the trailer chassis when you press against it. If the
locking mechanisms (A4) are not properly engaged, the chassis (A) of the
trailer could collapse while riding, potentially resulting in serious injuries
for the passenger(s).
Bicycle Trailer without the safety flag in place. The safety flag slides into
a canvas sleeve (K3) that is attached to the left or right rear frame tube.
First, assemble the flag superior and lowers poles (K1 + K2) by connecting
(k3) the two sections of the pole.
A7
. Slide the flag pole (K1 + K2) through the strap (K4) located on the
side of the cover and then guide the pole through the canvas sleeve (K5)
until the bottom.
WARNING
: If you are using the trailer in countries with left-hand traffic,
the safety flag must be used on the right side of the trailer. The flag can
be easily moved to the other side of the trailer. Just pull it up and repeat
the
A7
step.
HOW TO RETRACT THE HITCH ARM (J)
First, remove the hitch arm safety strap (J5) from the bicycle frame. Then
unlock the hitch arm connector locking pin(J4), and remove the axle hitch
(J2) from the towing bicycle rear wheel axle. Then unlock and remove the
locking pin (J3) and slide back the hitch arm (J) under the trailer and lock
it again with the locking pin (J3).
HOW TO REMOVE THE SAFETY FLAG (K)
The flag can be easily removed off just by pulling it up.
